Frist is the latest member of GOP leadership to find themselves in trouble for thinking that the rules only apply to the little people, not to bigshots like them.
Tom DeLay and Roy Blunt have already found their reputations sullied by their close ties to Jack Abramoff and their questionable fundraising activities.

Two political associates of U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay were indicted Tuesday on additional felony charges of illegally using corporate money to elect Republicans in 2002.

Vice President Dick Cheney has a 35 percent positive, 60 percent negative rating.
Yet, according to the latest Harris Poll, that's exactly what Majority Leader Tom DeLay has done.
Bush Team Still Backs Ethically Challenged DeLay

The Bush administration is standing by embattled House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) and is making its support known in the most convincing way possible -- with cold cash. Vice President Cheney will appear on the congressman's behalf at a Sept. 16 luncheon in Houston, according to a letter DeLay sent supporters announcing the event. Two tickets, a photo with Cheney, nice seats and something called a "VVIP" reception are going for $12,600. "Sponsors" can get in for $8,400, but won't get priority seating. "Friends" can get one seat and entry to a "VIP" reception -- one V only -- for $2,100.
Special Interests To the Rescue Again For DeLay-Blunt Leadership Team
Submitted by Roy Temple on Mon, 08/22/2005 - 7:21am.I suppose that it should come as no surprise that when Jim Ellis found himself under indictment for his role in the DeLay fundraising schemes, that he would turn to the special interests for help.
Ellis is best known for running DeLay's political fundraising schemes. However, Ellis also has extensive ties to Majority Whip Roy Blunt's fundraising operation that date to the beginning of Blunt's career in House leadership. In fact, Ellis was running both PACs in the spring of 2000, when DeLay's ARMPAC made $150,000 in contributions to Blunt's ROYB fund.
The News Keeps Getting Worse For Rep. Cunningham

The U.S. attorney in San Diego is trying to seize Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham's California home, asserting in a sealed civil suit that it was purchased with proceeds from a violation of the bribery statute.
The investigation around Cunningham involves businesses with close ties to Majority Leader Tom DeLay and Majority Whip Roy Blunt.
Westar Fined By FEC

FBI Raids Company With Close Ties To GOP House Leadership

On Tuesday, the FBI raided the offices of a California Defense contractor with close ties to Rep. Duke Cunningham, Majority Leader Tom DeLay, and Majority Whip Roy Blunt.
The FBI and IRS served a search warrant to ADCS, a company that converts paper records into computer records, according to a LOCAL 8 report.
