Pombo Tries To Have It Both Ways

Pombo Tries To Have It Both Ways -

Rep. Richard Pombo is trying to have it both ways regarding his 2003 taxpayer-financed vacation.

He tried to make political hay out of his choice in vacation, an RV trip with his family, while charging it to the taxpayers, and now claims it was all work.

But why should we expect him to tell us the truth about this when he repeatedly been dishonest about his ties to Jack Abramoff.

The Tracy Press is doing a bang up job of covering this story.

DeLay Given Cunningham's Seat On Appropriations

Rep. Tom DeLay has been rewarded by the GOP with Duke Cunningham's seat on the House Appropriations Committee.

There is no excuse for this and every Republican member of the House should be called to account for this action by their leadership.

Taxpayers Billed For Pombo Family Vacation

Today's Tracy Press reports that in 2003, the taxpayers paid the bill for Rep. Richard Pombo's family vacation.

In summer 2003, just after he was named chairman of the House Resources Committee, Rep. Richard Pombo loaded the family in an RV for “two weeks on vacation” traveling around the West.

Documents obtained by the Tracy Press show taxpayers covered most of his expenses.

“This August, my family and I rented an RV and set out to explore the West,” Pombo, R-Tracy, wrote in a 2003 article posted on the Resources Committee’s Web site.

That's why I have co-sponsored a "sense of the Senate" amendment, along with my colleagues John Kerry and Frank Lautenberg, urging the White House to provide the American people with a thorough account of the meetings the President, his staff, and senior executive branch officials had with disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

It's time for President Bush to answer our questions about Jack Abramoff. Urge your Senators to support my amendment today!

When Boehner Says He Is Close To Lobbyists....

He really means it.  The new Majority Leader lives in a Capitol Hill apartment owned by a K Street lobbyist.

According to the Washington Post:

Rep. John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), who was elected House majority leader last week, is renting his Capitol Hill apartment from a veteran lobbyist whose clients have direct stakes in legislation Boehner has co-written and that he has overseen as chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee.
