GOP Culture Of Corruption Extends Far Beyond Washington

Everyone knows about the scandals swirling around Washington with Rep. Tom DeLay, Majority Leader Roy Blunt, Senator Bill Frist, Jack Abramoff, Karl Rove, and on and on.  But the GOP Culture of Corruption extends far beyond Washington, D.C. and it is starting to takes its toll.

According to this AP story, Governor Bob Taft's approval ratings are now the lowest of any politician in the history of public opinion polls:

In the wake of convictions for ethics violations, Ohio Gov. Bob Taft's approval rating has dipped to a dismal 15 percent, making him one of the most unpopular politicians in the history of political polls.

A poll conducted by The Columbus Dispatch found support for the Republican is lower than the three most unpopular U.S. presidents since polling began in the mid-1900s, and may be the lowest rating of any Ohio governor.

But don't look for Taft to hold the record long, there are plenty of other Republican Governors with ethics problems--with records littered with corruption and cronyism--that could soon be rivalling Taft for this dubious distinction.
