If You're Into Voter Suppression, The RNC Has You Covered
In recent weeks, the RNC has been kicking up their rhetoric about vote fraud in an effort to turn it into a major political issue.
The RNC's front group, the American Center for Voting Rights, recently issued a bogus report, and Ken Mehlman has been busy writing letters about the RNC's zero tolerance policy for voter suppression.
But they have also been paying the legal bills of one of the GOP's top operatives for engaging in guess what? That's right, vote suppression.
According to John Solomon of the AP:
Despite a zero-tolerance policy on tampering with voters, the Republican Party has quietly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide private defense lawyers for a former Bush campaign official charged with conspiring to keep Democrats from voting in New Hampshire.
James Tobin, the president's 2004 campaign chairman for New England, is charged in New Hampshire federal court with four felonies accusing him of conspiring with a state GOP official and a GOP consultant in Virginia to jam Democratic and labor union get-out-the-vote phone banks in November 2002.
