Background on Fired Up!

Fired Up! LLC operates a family of websites that provide news and analysis to online readers. Our websites include Fired Up! Missouri and Fired Up! America, among others. Fired Up! recently received an advisory opinion from the Federal Election Commission confirming our status as a press entity. This ruling will enable Fired Up! to quickly expand. 

We are now looking for qualified interns to help us produce well-researched, informative and entertaining content for our readers.

Internship Opportunity

We currently have opening for unpaid internships as staff writers and research assistants. Additional internships for applicants with technical expertise may be available.

Location

Flexible 

Interns will be asked to participate in conference calls, but much of their work can be conducted from any location with a computer and an Internet connection.

Job Description

Interns for Fired Up! will be given research and writing assignments. The interns will work closely with the publisher of the Fired Up! websites and will be given guidance and feedback regularly. However, the positions will require significant ability to work independently. .

The work product of the interns will be prominently featured on Fired Up! website, with byline. Their work will be seen by leaders in top media, government, business and civic organizations.

General Responsibilities

• Generate story ideas
• Conduct online research
• Collect and review public records
• Compile, analyze, and summarize data
  • For example, examine public records and create a spreadsheet of public entities meeting certain criteria.
• Write opinion pieces on news events and the media’s coverage of those events
• Monitor current news and events
• Assist in the drafting of Sunshine Law requests
• Occasionally attend local events, press conferences and public hearings
