Halliburton Awarded Half-Billion Dollar Contract in Katrina's Aftermath
Well, the victims have been left to fend for themselves, the Bush administration has yet to hold anyone accountable, but Bush and Cheney's friends are already lining up to enjoy the spoils of disaster.
According to the Houston Business Journal:
Halliburton Co.'s Kellogg Brown & Root subsidiary has begun work on a $500 million U.S. Navy contract for emergency repairs at Gulf Coast naval and marine facilities that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina, according to an Associated Press report.
Halliburton has been under fire for overcharging tens of millions on their Iraqi reconstruction contracts. The Bush administration demoted the whistleblower that brought Halliburton's war-profiteering to light.
Vice President Dick Cheney, who until now has not seen fit to interrupt his vacation, will visit his Halliburton investment the storm-stricken area on Thursday to look in on the Bush administration's too-little too-late post-Katrina response.
