DeLay-Blunt Crony To Stand Trial

According to a Texas district judge, a long-time crony of Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Sugar Land) and Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-K Street) will have to stand trial.

According to the AP story:

A state district judge refused Tuesday to dismiss charges of money laundering and accepting illegal political contributions against two associates of U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land.

Judge Bob Perkins denied arguments from John Colyandro and Jim Ellis that the charges were based on an unconstitutionally vague law and that the indictments were improperly worded.

Ellis' association with DeLay has been widely reported in the press.  However, Ellis' ties to Blunt has received little notice.

Ellis has been intimately involved in many aspects of Blunt's political operation.  Most particularly, during its early days, Ellis directed the efforts of both DeLay's Americans for a Republican Majority and Blunt's Rely on Your Beliefs Fund.
