DeLay Can't Take The Pressure From Conservatives
I am not a big fan of Majority Leader Tom DeLay, but right now, I am worried about him developing a case of political whiplash. Just last week, DeLay was saying that it would be hard to find more cuts to the federal budget.
It didn't take long for the conservatives to come unhinged, including unleashing an assault on the GOP leadership from the right-wing echo chamber, Townhall.com.
Now DeLay has seen the light, and the waste, fraud and abuse that just last week was nowhere to be found, has miraculously reappeared. The GOP leadership even has a major PR offensive planned to placate the right wing.
For ten years, the mainstream media has allowed the GOP to come off as a principled party and has portrayed the Democrats as a party controlled by the narrow special interests. We now see that it is the GOP that can't withstand the flack from the controlling special interests within their party.
